Howard W. Blake opened in September 1956. Howard W. Blake a Traditional High School with a Performing and Visual Arts Magnet component, provides a rigorous college preparatory education and a highly intense performing and visual arts magnet program for our student population. The magnet component includes music, chorus, band, guitar, piano, theater, dance, drama and the visual arts. Blake High School was named for Howard Wesley Blake, a native of Tampa, who attended Florida A&M University, Claflin University, and Atlanta University. His entire life was geared toward guiding young people to their optimal education and vocational potential. Special Recognitions FBLA Winners Tatianna Rivers --3rd Place in Job Interview Sabrina Padmore -- 7th Place in Word Processing II.   Others competing were:  Quanesha Jenkins, Brianna Jackson, Adrienne Holland, and Nani Jones. The two winners will compete on the State level in Orlando. Choral Department Mr. Micah Lomax and one of Blake's 9th Grade Voice Majors at the Kick-off Concert held in September at  Blake High School. In his first year as Choral Director, Mr. Lomax brings visionary energy to the Choral Department Arts Magnet Program.
